The world class ski resort at STEAMBOAT SPRINGS
is perhaps best known as the original birthplace of organized
skiing in Colorado. The area is also famous for its dry,
feathery soft snow and the term "champagne powder"
was coined here to describe the powdery snow. Steamboat's
origins are as a ranching and farming community, setting
it apart from Telluride and Aspen. A mix of local western
rancher mentality and world class ski villiage imparts
a nice down home feeling to the town. In the summertime,
there is still plenty to do with mountain biking, whitewater
rafting and horseback riding.
