You might be
a little daunted when you first arrive in SAO PAULO
and all you can see are skyscrapers that go on for miles
and miles. The city is huge with 17 million people spread
over 3,000 square miles. Residents of the city, called Paulistanos,
talk proudly of their work ethic, feeling it superior to
the rest of Brazil. But work and profit aside, São
Paulo does have its attractions for the city has long surpassed
Rio de Janeiro as Brazil's cultural centre, and is home
to an vibrant art and music culture. The city's cuisine
is superb due to the many influences of immigrants from
so many parts of the world.
