| A remarkably
elegant city, RICHMOND still retains the aura of
old South gentility. The Museum of the Confederacy
houses some excellent Civil War artifacts including General
Robert E. Lee's coat and sword. The Neo-Classical State
Capitol highlighting downtown is the home of a lifesize
sculpture of George Washington by Jean Antoine Houdon. Located
farther uptown are the Science Museum of Virginia and
the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts which has collections
of ancient Indian, Egyptian and Himalayan art, French Impressionst
and Modern American masters. The highlight however is the
exhibit of Imperial Russian Art. |
