| The city of
PISA is almost synonymous with the architectural structure
of the Leaning Tower. Though just one component
of Pisa's stunning Campo dei Miracoli, where the
Duomo, Baptistry and Camposanto complete
the structure. It was in the tower where Galileo, a native
who was born near Pisa, conducted experiments with the laws
of falling bodies and the motions of projectiles. Gratefully,
engineers have recently competed work to reduce the tower's
tilt to 4.12 m (13.5 feet). The fine Museo Nazionale
di San Matteo houses Pisan and Florentine art from the
12th to 17th centuries. |
