Among the most pleasant of the Bay Area suburbs, PALO
ALTO is the home of Stanford University. The university's
mixture of Romanesque and Mission styles are housed on
8,200 sprawling acres. Its museum, the Stanford Museum
of Art is home to one of the largest collections of
sculptures by Auguste Rodin. The main drag, University
Avenue is lined by trendy cafés and chic new restaurants.
If you are a nature lover, you can visit the Palo Alto
Baylands Nature Preserve, located east of downtown.
It is a wetlands area of creeks and freshwater and saltwater
marshland that supports abundant bird life.
