centers in northern Italy with an illustrious academic history.
The Basilica di Sant'Antonio, dedicated to St. Anthony,
the patron saint of lost and found objects has long attracted
pilgrims in, especially on his feast day. The Cappella
degli Scrovegni, a beautifully decorated chapel which
features a series of frescoes painted by Giotto. Another
famous landmark is the Duomo and Baptistry which
is lined with fourteenth-century frescoes by Giusto de'Menabuoi,
Italy's most complete medieval fresco cycles. The Palazzo
della Ragione is an impressive palace built in the Middle
Ages as the seat of Padua's parliament, whose street-level
arcades shelter shops and cafès. |
