NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE (commonly referred to as simply
Newcastle), once a leader of 19th century industrial revolution
is now at the forefront of technical industry. The revitalized
Quayside, now lined with stylish hotels, designer
bars, restaurants and public art. Newcastle has one of
the best traditional art galleries in the Northeast, the
Laing, and many good theatres especially the BALTIC
Centre for Contemporary Art, a quayside flour mill
that was turned into the largest visual arts area in the
country. the main entrance is on Baltic Square, just a
10 minute walk from Gateshead town centre.
