NEWARK
, the "Gateway to New Jersey" is perhaps most
famous for its proximity to New York City. But Newark has
much to offer on its own. The Newark Museum is one of the
most extensive fine arts museums in the United States. Make
sure to see the Tibetan collection, which includes a Buddhist
Altar that was consecrated by the 14th Dalai Lama. Throughout
the year, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center hosts a
variety of events, including choirs, orchestras, dance performances
and more. If you happen to visit in April, the annual Cherry
Blossom Festival in Branch Brook Park boasts the largest
cherry blossom display in the United States.
