NAGASAKI is one of Japan's more picturesque cities,
nestled among the steep hills rising from the narrow,
curving harbor. Nagasaki is perhaps best known as the
city where the second atomic bomb was dropped on Japan
in 1945. Visitors to Nagasaki almost always visit the
famous Atom Bomb Museum dedicated to world peace.
The main statue of the park, The Peace Memorial Statue,
was constructed by Nagasaki City. Immigrants of Chinese,
Dutch, Portuguese and British have left their mark on
Nagasaki, building colourful Chinese temples, churches
and a mix of European-style houses and various cuisines.
