The cotton-trading capital of the Delta, MEMPHIS,sits
on the banks of the Mississippi River. Visitors come from
all over the world to celebrate the city that virtually
invented blues , soul and rock 'n' roll. The town is almost
synonymous with two famous icons; Martin Luther King,
Jr. and Elvis Presley. Downtown Memphis is revitalizing
its downtown, at the cost of losing some of its old cotton-era
buildings. The streets along the river are building new
hotels, restaurants and shops. Beale Street, the
old blues corridor is booming again while Sun Studio
is nearby and the Civil Rights Museum just to the
south. Graceland, ten miles out, should definitely
not be missed.
