Located in a thin sliver of land between Belgium and
Germany, MAASTRICHT is one of the most delightful
cities in the Netherlands. The first settlers here were
Roman, leaving behind a rich history as well as the remains
of the fortification walls that still partly surround
the city. The Bonnefantenmuseum houses a good collection
of Old Masters and contemporary art and is most noted
for its Neutelings Collection of medieval religious
sculpture.
In the old centre of Maastricht are shops and restaurants
where one can enjoy fine wines from neighboring vineyards
and savour the fine cuisine that the city is famous for.
