Located on the banks of the rivers Saône and Rhône,
LYON has been an important gateway between the
north and south. Vieux Lyon is the oldest part of the
city and pieces of its Roman history can be seen in the
superb Musée de la Civilisation Gallo-Romaine.
There are also two excavated Roman amphitheaters, the
Grand Theatre and the small Odéon.
Other attractions include the Basilique Notre-Dame
de Fourvière and the Cathédrale St-Jean.
There are also more restaurants per square metre of the
old town than anywhere else on earth, and the city is
renown for their share of international chefs.
