The capital LUXEMBOURG City lies in the south
east corner of the small sovereign state. The city enjoys
a dramatic location perched above the Alzette and Pétrusse
valleys. The old town, on the northern side is home to
most of the city's attractions. On the opposite side of
the Pétrusse, connected by two bridgeslies the
modern city. The Grand Ducal has been the royal
residence since 1890. Nearby is the Cathédrale
Notre-Dame, whose slender black spire dominates the
city's skyline. Two museums of note are the Musée
National d'Art et d'Histoire and the Musée
de l'Histoire de la Ville de Luxembourg.
