LISBON (Lisboa) is located on seven low hills
next to the Rio Tejo. Take the Avenida da Liberdade to
the Baixa to see the historic center of the city.
Rossio, a popular square of Lisbon is the location
of the statue of Dom Pedro IV, the National Theatre and
the Pombaline façades. Descend the narrow streets
of the Alfama quarter which skirts the citys
Sao Jorge Castle, and historic wooden trams that
ply noisily up and down steep hills past art deco cafes
and mosaic-decorated pavements. And of course within easy
reach of the city are the sandy beaches of several coastal
resorts.
