Most people love and hate LIMA at the same time.
It represents all that is good and all that is bad of
Peru. Lima is packed with culture and heritage, though
it's not what you notice first. In the last thirty years,
the population has swollen with people arriving from the
high Andes to make camp in the shanty towns that line
the highways looking for work. If you can get past that
the city's art and archaeology museums serve as a great
starting point in the rich history and culture of Peru.
If you can, see the modern Museo de la Nación,
outlining the history of Peru's ancient culture, and the
Rafael Larco Herrera Museum which has the world's
largest private collection of pre-Columbian art.
