CRAKÓW, the ancient capital of Poland is
beautiful, historic and filled with culture. Once the
home of kings, this major city escaped World War II damage
and it collections of monuments is indeed one of the world's
great historic sites. The Wawel is one of the most
stunning of the renovated royal palaces in Europe. The
heart of the city is the Market Square. The Cloth
Hall (Sukiennice) in the middle of the square was
a covered market that originated during medieval times
and today houses vendors of souvenirs, galleries and some
top notch cafes. St. Mary's Church is located on
the east side of the square whose greatest treasture is
the 12 foot alterpiece.
