An historic port, KOBE is a sophisticated and
cosmopolitan city with excellent shopping and fabulous
international cuisines. Each group of immigrants has brought
with it a deep sense of their rich heritage, the city
now has every kind of cuisine from Western to Indian as
well as many steakhouses offering the renown local delicacy,
Kobe beef. Kobe does offer some attraction unique to Japan,
including a museum devoted to fashion and the world's
longest suspension bridge, Akashi Kaikyo. One of
the city's most compelling attractions is the Kobe
Phoenix Plaza, which documents the devasting Great
Hanshin earthquake of 1995 and its aftermath.
