KNOXVILLE is located in a broad valley between the Cumberland Mountains to the northwest and the Great Smoky Mountains to the southeast, just outside Great Smoky Mountains National Park. On the northern edge of the Old City, is a small neighborhood of shops, galleries, restaurants and nightspots housed in old Victorian warehouses. On the western edge of downtown, the World's Fair Park is dominated by the famous science fiction aura of the Sunsphere. The Knoxville Museum of Art, located in the park, houses visiting exhibits and features a small permanent collection of paintings.
