KANSAS CITYstraddles the state line between Kansas
and Missouri. Its beautiful landscaped parks, wide
boulevards, sophisticated museums, fine architecture and
urban districts make it a very attractive city. Downtown
is the historic district known as City Market which
is located on the bluffs of the Missouri River. The riverfront's
19th century warehouses have been transformed into colorful
shops, cafés, a lively farmers' market and the
Treasure of the Steamboat Arabia Museum which displays
artifacts salvaged from a 1856 wreck. Southeast of downtown
is the 18th & Vine Heritage District where the
American Jazz Museum which chronicles the city's swinging
jazz era.
