ISTANBUL
is a city of contridiction, made even more confusing because
it straddles both Europe and Asia where civilization on
top of civilization have built their epic empires. Istanbul
is divided by the Bosporus, the narrow channel that separates
Europe from Asia. The old centre of Sultanahmet is
where you will find most of the city's main attractions;
the cathedral of Aya Sofya, Topkapi Palace
and the Blue Mosque. Located further west is the
Kariye Camii which contains stunning Byzantine frescoes
and mosaics. Located to the north is the new town, modern
Beyoglu, and Taksim Square.
