One of Pennsylvania's pleasant surprises along the shore of the Lake Erie waterfront is the nice little city of ERIE.You are downtown until you find yourself in the shady park lined town square. There are numerous attraction and cultural exhibits in the city, most within walking distance. The Court House and several museums devoted to history, art and science as well as the Erie Maritime Museum which has some fine exhibits of the geological and ecological progress of the Great Lakes. But, Erie's major attraction is peninsula of Presque Isle State Park. The park is a nature preserve that has wide sandy beaches perfect for swimming and a series of wooded hiking trails.
