| Occupying two thirds
of the island of Hispaniola, the Dominican Republic (or the DR, as it isknown)
is decidedly delightful. It's clear crystal waters and sandy beaches fringed by
palm trees creates a perfect Caribbean playground. There is breathtaking scenery
everwhere, but be aware that a lot of proverty still exists in most of the towns.
This is slowly changing due to the increasing role that tourism is playing in
it's economy. The weather is nearly perfect year round. Decidedly Latin in their
heritage, the people of the Dominican Republic are among the friendliest in the
Caribbean, and the hospitality is genuine |
