| CORK City occupies
an island lying between two arms of the River Lee. The waterways, bridges, narrow
alleys and Georgian architecture lend a certain charm and continental flavor to
the city. During the eighteenth century, many of Cork's streets were waterways.
The liviest hub of entertainment is contained on St Paul Street which is filled
with bookshops, bars, ethnic restaurants and boutiques. Out side of the city,
beautiful countryside surrounds Cork along the valley of the river. Two popular
tours are the whiskey-making tour to Old Midleton Distillery and a trip
to Blarney Castle and its legendary kissing stone. |
